The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) following a familiarisation visit by the newly deployed NDLEA State Commander, CN Folayemi Gabriel Adeyemo.
The visit, which took place on Thursday, August 20, 2026, saw the NDLEA State Commander meet with the Ondo State Commandant of the NSCDC, CC Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye, JP, to strengthen the existing relationship between the two agencies and explore additional areas of cooperation in tackling drug abuse, illicit drug trafficking, and other related criminal activities.
During the meeting, both commanders stressed that addressing drug abuse and substance misuse requires a collective and coordinated approach involving all relevant security and law enforcement agencies. They emphasized the need for sustained collaboration to effectively combat the growing challenges posed by drug-related offences.
The officers also highlighted the importance of intelligence gathering and information sharing, noting that enhanced inter-agency cooperation would strengthen intelligence-led operations and improve the capacity of both organisations to prevent and respond to drug-related crimes across the state.
They observed that the link between drug abuse and insecurity remains a major concern, as substance misuse often fuels criminal activities, undermines public safety, and poses a significant threat to peace and social stability.
Consequently, the NSCDC and NDLEA reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining their long-standing partnership and exploring new avenues of collaboration aimed at promoting a safer, more secure, and drug-free Ondo State.
