NUC Approves 10 New Postgraduate Programmes for Nigeria Police Academy

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 10 new postgraduate programmes for the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s commitment to advancing professional, security, and academic education in Nigeria.

The approval followed a comprehensive resource verification exercise conducted by an NUC assessment team, which evaluated the Academy’s academic facilities, instructional resources, and faculty capacity. The successful outcome of the exercise confirms the institution’s readiness to offer the new postgraduate programmes.

The approved programmes, which will be offered on a full-time basis, are:

  1. Master’s in Crime Management, Prevention and Control (MCM)
  2. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Crime Management, Prevention and Control
  3. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Peace and Conflict Studies
  4. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Police Studies
  5. Master of Science (M.Sc.) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship
  6. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Management Studies

  9. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Financial Economics
  10. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Forensic DNA Studies

The introduction of these programmes reflects the Academy’s continued efforts to expand opportunities for advanced learning, research, and professional development in critical fields relevant to national security and socio-economic development.

While the Nigeria Police Academy has traditionally focused on enhancing the knowledge and skills of senior police officers, the newly approved programmes will be open to a wider audience. Eligible personnel from other security and intelligence agencies, as well as qualified members of the public, will be able to apply for admission.

Details regarding admission requirements, application procedures, registration portals, and programme commencement dates will be announced in due course.
