The Federal Fire Service, Kwara State Command, under the leadership of the State Controller, ACF Bakare Mary, on Wednesday, 17th June, 2026, received students of Noor Muhammed Secondary School, Ilorin, on an educational excursion aimed at broadening their knowledge of fire safety and emergency response.
The students, led by the school proprietor, Mallam Musibahu Shittu Oladimeji, and accompanied by their teachers, were warmly received by personnel of the Command upon their arrival.
As part of the scheduled programme, Deputy Superintendent of Fire Olorunoje Sidikat introduced the students to the Control Room, explaining its role as a unit under the Operations Department and as the first point of response to emergencies reported to the Command.
During the programme, Assistant Superintendent of Fire II Ganiyat Olayiwola delivered a detailed lecture on the concept of fire, the various classes of fire and examples of each class, as well as essential fire safety tips. Similarly, ASF II Abdullahi Adam Aberi highlighted the causes and effects of fire, the stages of fire development, and the principles of fire extinction.
In his remarks, Deputy Superintendent of Fire Keji Yusuf explained the importance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), highlighting the functions of the various types used by firefighters in the course of their duties. He also educated the students on fire extinguishers and demonstrated their proper use through a practical session.
In her remarks, the State Controller, ACF Bakare Mary, encouraged the students to make good use of the safety knowledge acquired during the excursion and charged them to remain safety-conscious at all times.
In appreciation, the proprietor of the school, Mallam Musibahu Shittu Oladimeji, commended the State Controller and personnel of the Command for the warm reception, enlightening lectures, and interactive sessions on fire safety and emergency response.
The visit was subsequently commemorated with a group photograph, marking the successful conclusion of the excursion.
