The Nigerian Army has confirmed the rescue of Mrs. Abubakar, the wife of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, following a violent encounter with armed bandits in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Military authorities described the incident as a deadly confrontation between troops and the armed group during a rescue operation aimed at securing her release.
According to security sources, the operation was carried out after intelligence indicated the movement of the abducted victim within the area. Troops were subsequently deployed to intercept the suspects.
The encounter reportedly led to an exchange of fire, forcing the armed men to abandon their victim and flee into surrounding terrain.
Mrs. Abubakar was successfully rescued and taken into military protective custody, where she is currently receiving medical and psychological support.
The development comes shortly after the burial of her husband, retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, marking a deeply painful period for the family and drawing renewed attention to security challenges in parts of Katsina State.
