NSCDC Ondo State Command Arrests Two Private Security Guards Over Alleged Theft of NMDPRA Air Conditioners

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has arrested two private security personnel in connection with the alleged theft and unlawful sale of air conditioners belonging to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
The arrest was carried out in line with the Corps’ statutory responsibility of safeguarding lives, property, and critical national infrastructure across Ondo State, under the leadership of Commandant Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye.
On Sunday, 14 June 2026, operatives of the Command, acting on credible intelligence and sustained surveillance, apprehended one Peter Jacob, aged 36, a private security guard attached to Crown Security Network and deployed to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission. He was reportedly found in possession of an air conditioner unit identified as property of the Commission.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to the offence and implicated another individual, Oluwatosin Oluwafemi, aged 29, also a private security guard attached to Global Security Networks, as his accomplice. The second suspect was subsequently arrested and is also said to have admitted involvement in the crime.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the Commission had recently replaced several air conditioning units within its office complex, while the removed units were temporarily kept within the premises. It was further discovered that about five units had already been removed and disposed of prior to the arrests.
The suspects are currently in custody and are assisting ongoing investigations aimed at uncovering the full extent of the alleged syndicate and recovering additional stolen items.
Commandant Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye has reiterated the Command’s firm resolve to combat criminal activities and protect critical national assets across the State. He also advised private security companies to ensure thorough vetting, proper profiling, and effective supervision of personnel deployed to sensitive locations.
The Command further called on members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to enhance effective policing and crime prevention.
