Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT, under the leadership of the Commander, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu, conducted a free medical outreach and educational rhapsody at the Nigerian Navy Primary School, Mobil Road, Apapa, Lagos State, as part of activities commemorating the Nigerian Navyโs 70th Anniversary Celebration.The initiative, which is in line with the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas (Admiralty Medal) mandate to all Commands and Units to give back to their host communities, formed part of the Nigerian Navyโs civil-military cooperation efforts aimed at improving engagement with host communities and enhancing the wellbeing of citizens through impactful humanitarian programmes. Based on this directive, the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Abubakar Abdullahi Mustapha, has continued to encourage Units under the Command to initiate people-oriented programmes that positively impact host communities and strengthen civil-military relations within the area of responsibility, hence, NNS BEECROFT conducted the rhapsody. The outreach featured free medical consultations, basic health screenings, distribution of prescribed medications, and health awareness sessions for pupils, teachers, parents and residents of the surrounding community. As part of the educational component of the programme, learning materials were distributed to pupils to support their academic development and encourage a stronger culture of learning. The pupils were also sensitised on the importance of discipline, civic responsibility and national consciousness, values that align with the ethos and traditions of the Nigerian Navy.Speaking during the event, Commodore Adams-Aliu reaffirmed the Nigerian Navyโs commitment to safeguard the nationโs maritime domain and contribute meaningfully to community development and human capacity building. He noted that the outreach reflected the Navyโs enduring dedication to initiatives that directly impact the lives of Nigerians, particularly children and young people who represent the nationโs future. The Commander emphasised that access to quality healthcare and education remains essential to sustainable national growth, stressing that investing in children today is critical to building a safer, stronger and more prosperous society. He encouraged the pupils to remain disciplined, focused on their education and committed to values such as integrity, patriotism and excellence.In their remarks, the Head Teacher of the school, the Parent-Teacher Association Chairman, and several parents expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Navy and the leadership of NNS BEECROFT for the thoughtful initiative.
