The Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Engr. Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, on Thursday paid a strategic working visit to the Secretariat of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Abuja to advance plans for the establishment of fire stations across all 774 Local Government Areas of the country.

The initiative, being pursued in partnership with ALGON and facilitated by Phylko Ltd., is designed to expand fire service infrastructure nationwide and bring firefighting, rescue and emergency response services closer to communities at the grassroots level. The project is expected to enhance public safety, reduce response times to fire outbreaks and other emergencies, and strengthen disaster management capabilities across the country.

Speaking during the visit, the Controller-General described the proposed collaboration as a landmark step towards deepening fire safety and emergency preparedness in Nigeria. He noted that the establishment of fire stations in every local government area would significantly improve the protection of lives, property and critical national assets.

Adeyemi called on all stakeholders to support the initiative, stressing that collective commitment and collaboration are essential to its successful implementation. He reaffirmed the Federal Fire Service’s determination to ensure that no community is left without access to professional firefighting and emergency response services.

Under the proposed partnership, the Federal Fire Service, ALGON and Phylko Ltd. will work closely to drive the development of fire stations across the nation’s 774 local government areas, marking a major milestone in the effort to strengthen fire safety coverage and build a more resilient emergency response system nationwide.
