Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has been selected to receive the 2026 Nigeria’s Most Secure State Excellence Award at the forthcoming People’s Security Monitor (PSM) Annual Security Conference and Awards Summit scheduled to hold in Abuja.

The organisers disclosed that the award is in recognition of the governor’s outstanding commitment to security management, public safety, peacebuilding, and crime prevention initiatives that have continued to position Gombe as one of the most peaceful and stable states in the country.

According to the organisers, Governor Yahaya’s administration has demonstrated remarkable leadership in strengthening intelligence-driven security operations, supporting security agencies, promoting inter-community harmony, and creating an enabling environment for economic growth and investment. They further commended the governor for his proactive approach to governance and his sustained collaboration with security stakeholders in maintaining peace and stability across the state.

The summit is expected to attract senior government officials, military and paramilitary chiefs, policymakers, traditional rulers, diplomats, media practitioners, and security experts from across Nigeria and beyond.

As part of the highlights of the event, Governor Yahaya will serve as one of the chief presenters of a new book titled, “The Defender of the Nation: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Three-Year Onslaught Against Insecurity, His Tough Decisions, Sacrifices, and Gains.” The 21-chapter publication, authored by Isiaka Mustapha, examines the security challenges confronting Nigeria, the Tinubu administration’s counter-insurgency measures, and ongoing inter-agency efforts aimed at combating insecurity nationwide.

The governor is also expected to deliver a special address on security governance, inter-agency cooperation, and community-based strategies for sustaining peace and national stability. Organisers noted that his contributions to security and development have earned him national recognition and admiration among policy and security stakeholders.

The 2026 PSM Security Conference and Awards Summit is scheduled to hold on Thursday, June 4, 2026, by 10:00am at the Auditorium of the Nigeria National Merit Award House, Maitama, Abuja, under the chief guest speakership of General Christopher Musa (Rtd), Nigeria’s Minister of Defence.

Organisers further stated that the conference, endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs as well as the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), will feature high-level policy dialogues, goodwill messages, strategic security discussions, public presentation of the book, and conferment of awards on distinguished individuals and institutions contributing to peace, security, and national development in Nigeria.
