FCT Police Arrest Ilebaye’s Father Over Alleged Assault in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Emmanuel Odiniya, father of 2023 Big Brother Naija winner Ilebaye Odiniya, following an alleged assault involving the reality television star in Abuja.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday. She explained that police operatives responded to a distress call from Royal Anchor Estate in Wuye, Abuja, in the early hours of the day after reports emerged that the reality star was being assaulted by her father.

According to the statement, the incident occurred at about 12:00 a.m. on May 9, 2026, when the police received information alleging that Ilebaye Odiniya was under physical attack at the residence.

Adeh stated that a patrol team from the Wuye Division, supported by operatives from the Department of Operations of the FCT Police Command, was immediately deployed to the scene. She added that the Police Public Relations Officer was also present to supervise the operation.

She further explained that officers initially faced difficulty gaining access to the compound because the gate was locked. However, after several attempts, security personnel successfully entered the premises at about 2:30 a.m.

The police spokesperson said Ilebaye Odiniya was rescued alongside her brothers and taken to the NNPC Hospital in Abuja for medical attention after she was reportedly found with visible bruises.

The police confirmed that Emmanuel Odiniya remains in custody while investigations continue to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The matter attracted widespread public attention after videos circulated online showing Ilebaye Odiniya in an emotional live broadcast on Saturday morning. In the footage, the reality star was seen crying and calling for help, while visible swelling appeared on her face as several men were seen around her.
