The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Gombe State Command, has participated in a strategic stakeholders’ meeting organised ahead of the 2026 Hajj exercise at Gombe International Airport. The meeting brought together key agencies and partners responsible for ensuring the safe, orderly, and efficient coordination of pilgrimage operations.
As a frontline emergency management and safety agency, the Federal Fire Service plays a critical role in protecting lives and property throughout the Hajj exercise. The Service’s responsibilities include fire prevention, emergency preparedness, rapid incident response, and collaboration with relevant agencies to minimise potential risks within the airport environment and adjoining facilities.
Speaking during the engagement, the State Controller, DCF S.M. Suleiman, reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety before, during, and after the Hajj operations. He stressed that proactive planning, effective inter agency collaboration, and strict compliance with safety protocols remain essential to the successful conduct of the exercise.
The meeting also served as an avenue for participating stakeholders to review operational strategies, assess possible risk areas, and strengthen cooperation among all agencies involved. The collaborative effort is aimed at ensuring a smooth, secure, and hitch free journey for pilgrims from Gombe State and other parts of the country.
The Federal Fire Service, Gombe State Command, reiterated its unwavering commitment to its statutory mandate of safeguarding lives and property and pledged continued deployment of its expertise and operational resources in support of national and international engagements, including the annual Hajj exercise.
