Fire Service, INEC Strengthen Operational Collaboration in Kwara

The Kwara State Command of the Federal Fire Service has hosted the Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mallam Hammed Yushau Garki, during a strategic courtesy visit to its headquarters in Ilorin.

The delegation was received by the State Controller, ACF Bakare Mary, alongside senior officers of the command. The visit commenced with formal introductions of principal officials from both institutions, coordinated by the Public Relations Officer, DSF Modibbo Ibrahim.

The engagement focused on strengthening institutional cooperation and enhancing operational synergy, particularly in the area of fire safety support for electoral activities.

Speaking during the meeting, Mallam Garki described the Federal Fire Service as a critical partner in providing fire cover for the protection of sensitive electoral materials. He stressed the importance of sustained collaboration, including continuous safety sensitisation for electoral personnel and the development of standard safety protocols within the commission.

In her response, ACF Bakare Mary reaffirmed the command’s commitment to hazard identification, prevention, and effective fire safety management. She assured the commission of continued support, noting that the core mandate of the service is the protection of lives and property.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner commended the professionalism of the command and expressed readiness to strengthen safety standards within the commission through closer collaboration.

The visit concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Head of Inspection, DSF Ibrahim Toyin, followed by a group photograph to mark the engagement.
