The Nigerian Navy Marines, operating under Operation Hadin Kai, have eliminated 34 Boko Haram terrorists and disrupted the activities of insurgents in the Lake Chad area during two separate offensive operations conducted in collaboration with the Nigerian Army.

The operations, carried out by personnel of the Nigerian Navy Marines stationed at Naval Base Lake Chad, in conjunction with the 403 Amphibious Brigade of the Nigerian Army, were part of sustained intelligence-driven efforts to weaken terrorist networks and deny insurgents freedom of movement in the area.

On 28 October 2026, the Navy Marines launched an offensive operation against Boko Haram elements, with initial reports indicating that eight terrorists had been killed. However, a subsequent Battle Damage Assessment revised the number of terrorists killed to 28.

In a separate operation conducted on 30 October 2026, the Navy Marines launched another offensive strike against an identified Boko Haram terrorist enclave at Dumba in the Lake Chad area.

The operation followed Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions through which terrorist positions and movements were identified and monitored before a precision strike was launched against the enclave.

Preliminary Battle Damage Assessment indicated that approximately six terrorists were neutralised, while several others reportedly sustained injuries. The military authorities, however, stated that the casualty figures remained subject to further verification as operational assessments continued.

The two operations bring the number of terrorists reportedly neutralised to 34, representing another significant setback for Boko Haram’s activities in the Lake Chad region.

Since their deployment, the newly established Nigerian Navy Marines have continued to strengthen joint military operations under Operation Hadin Kai, serving as a force multiplier in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in the North-East.

Their operational contributions have enhanced the capacity of the joint task force to identify and attack terrorist enclaves, disrupt hostile activities and restrict insurgents’ freedom of action within the Lake Chad area.

The sustained offensive operations are aimed at degrading the operational capabilities of terrorist groups, weakening their networks and creating safer conditions for vulnerable communities affected by years of insurgency.

The Nigerian Navy reaffirmed its commitment to supporting joint military operations through sustained offensive engagements, intelligence-driven missions and effective collaboration with other security agencies to strengthen national security and restore lasting peace and stability in the North-East.
