Airstrikes conducted by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have destroyed terrorist hideouts in Ali Sheriffti, a known enclave located in the southern Tumbuns of North Eastern Nigeria.
According to a statement issued by the NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the operation was carried out on 24 April. He explained that NAF air assets, acting on credible intelligence regarding terrorist activities, undertook a targeted surveillance mission during which several insurgents were observed moving along concealed routes.
The spokesperson further noted that the individuals were tracked to structures hidden beneath dense vegetation, indicating deliberate efforts to evade detection.
Following positive identification of the targets, the NAF executed a precision strike, engaging the structures with onboard munitions. The operation achieved its intended outcome, with the destruction of the terrorist facilities, thereby degrading their operational capability and restricting their freedom of movement within the area.
Air Commodore Ejodame stated that the strikes underscore the NAF’s sustained commitment to intelligence driven, precision focused operations aimed at eliminating terrorist safe havens.
He added that the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the Air Force’s resolve to continue dismantling terrorist networks with consistent precision and force, ensuring that no enclave remains beyond operational reach.
He further emphasised that ongoing operations will be intensified to enhance national security and protect citizens.
