From Parade Commander to Strategic Leader: The Distinguished Military Journey of WG CDR M.B. Salisu

M.B Salisu is a highly accomplished and respected senior officer of the Nigerian Air Force, renowned for his exceptional expertise in military training and parade command. A first-class trainer, he has spent over a decade shaping and mentoring soldiers, earning a reputation for excellence and discipline. He is also widely recognised for commanding major military and national parades, notably serving as the Parade Commander during the 2019 Nigerian Air Force Celebration Day.
He enlisted into the Nigerian Air Force in 2000 and was later commissioned as a Flying Officer in February 2010 after graduating from the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy. His career progression reflects his dedication and professionalism—he was promoted to the rank of Flight Lieutenant in March 2014, elevated to Squadron Leader in March 2019, and attained the rank of Wing Commander in 2024.
Throughout his distinguished career, Wing Commander Salisu has held several high-profile command and staff appointments. He served as the Pioneer Commandant of the Air Force Secondary School, Kaduna, and as Air Assistant to the Air Officer Commanding Logistics Command. He also held the position of Chief Instructor at the Military Training School (323 Ground Training Group) and later became the Commanding Officer of the Airmen Training School, Military Training Centre, Kaduna.
In addition, he served as Sub-Sector Commander under the Joint Task Force, Operation Safe Haven in Plateau State, demonstrating his operational leadership in critical security assignments. His other appointments include Group Administrative Officer at 151 Base Services Group, Makurdi; Group Education Officer at 551 NAF Station; and Instructor at the Air Force Military School, Jos.
Wing Commander Salisu further enhanced his professional capacity by attending the Junior and Senior Staff Courses at the prestigious Armed Forces Command and Staff College. He also completed a Conflict and Management Course at the College of Conflict Management, Abuja.
His career stands as a testament to discipline, leadership, and unwavering commitment to national service.
