FCT POLICE DEPLOY 1,803 PERSONNEL, BOOST SECURITY FOR 2026 EASTER CELEBRATION…CP extends Easter greetings, urges peace, unity, and vigilance


The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has deployed a total of one thousand, eight hundred and three (1,803) personnel, alongside critical operational assets, to churches and recreational centres across the Territory in preparation for the 2026 Easter celebration.
This proactive initiative is aimed at strengthening existing security measures and ensuring the safety of worshippers and residents throughout the festive period. The deployment features enhanced visibility policing, intelligence-led operations, coordinated vehicular and foot patrols, as well as continuous surveillance to enable the prompt detection and prevention of criminal activities. Additionally, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units have been mandated to conduct routine sweeps of major public and recreational facilities to mitigate potential security threats.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, while extending warm Easter greetings to Christian faithful across the Territory, called on residents to embrace the spirit of the season by promoting peace, unity, and mutual respect. He urged all residents to remain law-abiding and encouraged religious leaders to continue preaching messages of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
The Commissioner further reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property before, during, and after the celebrations. He also appealed for continued cooperation with the Police and other security agencies to ensure a safe and hitch-free festive period.
