The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, received Engr. Bello Lawal, National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, alongside a delegation of senior executives of the association during a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The delegation included Hon. Alabi Kolade, former National President; Hon. Odunayo Ategbero, Chairman of the Board of Trustees; Senator Uzamere Igbeke, Financial and Lead Consultant; Hon. Dr. Okafor Odinaka Cyril, BOT Member (South East); Hon. Shehu Marshal, Chief of Staff; Barr. (Mrs.) Evan Enekwe, Acting Director-General; Dr. Ben Nkechika, Health Consultant; Donald Ayibiowu Esq., Special Adviser on Legislative Matters; and Obiora Orji, Head of Media.
During the meeting, Engr. Bello Lawal reaffirmed ALGON’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the Nigeria Police Force. He congratulated the IGP on his appointment, commended his leadership, and emphasized the association’s readiness to support policing efforts across local government areas. The delegation also sought continued collaboration from the police in advancing ALGON’s initiatives, noting its ongoing engagement with federal and state governments to implement policies nationwide.
In his response, IGP Disu expressed appreciation for ALGON’s sustained support and acknowledged its role in enhancing policing efforts over the years. He highlighted the operational challenges faced by officers, particularly those working under limited resources, and commended ALGON’s contributions to improving police effectiveness.
The IGP reaffirmed his commitment to consolidating existing achievements and strengthening the capacity of the Nigeria Police Force. He also urged members of the public to respect officers on duty, while encouraging police personnel to maintain professionalism and civility in their interactions with citizens.
The visit underscores a renewed commitment to collaboration between ALGON and the Nigeria Police Force, aimed at enhancing security and strengthening governance at the grassroots level across Nigeria.
