The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening defence cooperation with China following a courtesy visit by the Chinese Defence Attaché, Senior Colonel Ouyang Haisheng, to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, at NAF Headquarters in Abuja on March 25, 2026.
The meeting highlighted the importance of sustained defence diplomacy in enhancing military capacity, with both sides exploring opportunities for expanded collaboration in training, technology transfer, and operational development. The discussions also focused on addressing evolving security challenges in Nigeria and the wider region through strategic partnerships.
Air Marshal Aneke emphasized that international military cooperation remains central to the NAF’s ongoing transformation efforts. He noted that such partnerships are critical in building a professional and mission-ready force capable of delivering effective airpower in support of national security objectives.
He further stressed that strengthened bilateral ties with countries like China will not only enhance the operational capabilities of the NAF but also contribute to regional stability and global security initiatives.
