Gunmen have abducted a senior cleric of the Evangelical Church Winning All, Rev. Prof. Sunday B. Agang, who serves as Chairman of the church’s Board of Trustees, in Plateau State.
The cleric was reportedly taken in the early hours of Tuesday from his residence in Farin Gida, Jos, by unidentified assailants.
A source at the church’s headquarters confirmed the incident, while a message shared on the church’s official WhatsApp platform also informed members and urged prayers for his safety and quick release.
The message expressed deep concern over the abduction and called on believers and well wishers to seek divine intervention for his protection and safe return.
In a related development, eight members of the same church were abducted in Kwara State following an attack on a worship service.
Residents of the Omogo community in Ifelodun Local Government Area were thrown into panic after suspected bandits stormed a church service on Sunday, assaulting worshippers and taking away eight individuals, including the wife of a pastor.
The incident is reported to be the third such attack on the community, raising fresh concerns over the deteriorating security situation in the area.
Those abducted have been identified as Chief David Afolayan, Chief Joseph Ibitoye Afariogun, Mr Joshua Adeyemi Jogo, Mrs Rachel Omopariola, Mrs Mosunmola Afolayan, Mrs Bukola Sunday, Mrs Anti also known as Mama Gbeke, and Mrs Remilekun Omole.
Recounting the incident, the church pastor, Omole Sunday Timothy, said the attack occurred during a service when armed men invaded the premises and carried out the abduction.
