The Delta State Police Command has issued a firm warning to cultists and other criminal elements to stay away from unlawful activities during the Eid El Fitr celebrations, assuring residents that it is fully prepared to maintain law and order across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, has directed the strategic deployment of officers and operational units to ensure a safe and peaceful festive period for all residents.
According to the command, all Divisional Police Officers, Area Commanders and Tactical Commanders have been instructed to step up intelligence based operations, including targeted raids on known criminal hideouts and identified trouble spots.
In addition, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations has been tasked with overseeing and coordinating all security deployments to guarantee effective coverage before, during and after the celebrations.
This directive was contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, and made available to journalists in Warri.
The command reassured Muslim faithful and the general public of adequate security arrangements to protect lives and property throughout the Eid festivities scheduled for March 19 and March 20, 2026.
It also noted that comprehensive measures have been put in place to ensure smooth traffic movement, with security personnel and operational assets stationed at Eid prayer grounds and other key locations across the state.
While extending goodwill to Muslim faithful for a peaceful celebration, the Commissioner of Police urged residents to remain law abiding and security conscious at all times.
He further advised members of the public to promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station for immediate response.
