The Chief of the Naval Staff has reaffirmed ongoing efforts to strengthen the operational capacity of the Nigerian Navy through improved procurement processes, infrastructure upgrades, and sustained personnel development. He made this known in Abuja while receiving the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence during a working visit to Naval Headquarters.
He commended the Ministry of Defence for its consistent support, noting that the partnership has significantly enhanced operational readiness, improved personnel welfare, and enabled the deployment of skilled manpower across critical areas.
He explained that the growing collaboration between the Navy and the Ministry has contributed to stronger maritime security and more effective joint operations, particularly in addressing emerging threats within the nation’s maritime domain.
The naval chief also emphasized that continuous investment in modern platforms and technology remains essential to achieving a more agile and responsive naval force capable of meeting current and future security demands.
He further noted that infrastructure development across naval formations is being prioritised to create a more conducive working environment for personnel and to support efficient operational logistics.
In addition, he highlighted ongoing training and capacity building programmes designed to equip officers and ratings with modern skills, ensuring that the Navy remains professional, adaptable, and mission ready.
He pledged sustained alignment with national defence priorities, adding that the Navy will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Defence to drive modernisation efforts and reinforce the country’s overall security architecture.
