Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has stated that terrorists and bandits across the country are suffering significant losses despite reports in some sections of the media suggesting otherwise. He made the remarks after a high level security meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, where the country’s security situation was extensively reviewed.
General Musa explained that ongoing military operations across different theatres have continued to degrade the capabilities of criminal groups. According to him, several insurgent commanders have been eliminated in recent operations, weakening the structure and coordination of the terrorist networks.
“We want Nigerians to understand that the Armed Forces are making steady progress. Many of the terrorists and bandit leaders are being neutralised, and their camps are being dismantled on a regular basis,” he said. He added that the military remains focused and determined to sustain the momentum until lasting peace is achieved across the country.
The Defence Chief further reassured Nigerians that the Armed Forces, in collaboration with other security agencies, remain fully committed to restoring peace and stability nationwide. “We are confident that victory is certain. Our troops are motivated, our strategies are improving, and we will continue to take the fight to the enemies of our nation,” Musa stated.
