The Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) has commended the Nigeria Police Force and members of the organisation in Benue State following the successful completion of a Community Policing and Character Check training programme aimed at strengthening grassroots security operations.
In a statement issued by the Commander-General of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Navy Captain Umar Bakori (rtd), the group expressed appreciation to the leadership, officers, and members of its Benue State Command for participating in the exercise, describing the training as a significant step toward improving professionalism, discipline, accountability, and operational efficiency within community-based security structures.
Bakori said the collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Vigilante Group in Benue State demonstrates the benefits of coordinated security efforts in addressing safety challenges at the grassroots level.
“We sincerely commend the Nigeria Police Force, Benue State Command, for its guidance, supervision and commitment to strengthening community policing standards. This partnership continues to reinforce structured and lawful security operations,” he said.
The Commander-General also praised officers and members of the VGN in Benue for their discipline and willingness to undergo the structured training and character assessment, noting that their conduct reflected a strong commitment to integrity and service.
Bakori urged the trained officers to sustain the high standards attained during the programme and continue to work closely with the police in intelligence sharing, crime prevention and community engagement.
He added that the organisation remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote safer communities and stronger collaboration between vigilante groups and formal security agencies across Nigeria.
