The Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for equipping the Nigerian Army with sophisticated weapons and critical military hardware to address emerging security threats across the country.
Governor Alia gave the commendation on Thursday, March 5, 2026, while receiving the Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, during a courtesy visit at the Government House in Makurdi.
The governor noted that the Federal Government’s continued investment in modern military equipment demonstrates strong commitment to improving national security and strengthening the operational capacity of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
He emphasized that the provision of advanced weapons and other combat resources will significantly enhance the ability of troops to confront criminal elements and restore lasting peace in troubled communities across the country.
In his remarks, the Chief of Army Staff assured the governor that the Nigerian Army is intensifying its operational efforts in Benue State and other parts of the country affected by security challenges.
He explained that the support of President Tinubu, particularly through the acquisition of modern weapons and combat enablers, will greatly improve the effectiveness of troops in tackling insecurity and safeguarding the lives and property of Nigerians.
