Osun NSCDC Calls for Peace Ahead of Governorship Election Campaigns

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun State has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a peaceful environment ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
Ahead of the formal commencement of electioneering campaigns on March 11, 2026, the Commandant of the NSCDC in Osun State, Igbalawole Sotiyo, appealed to political stakeholders to promote peace and maintain order throughout the electoral process.
Commandant Sotiyo made the appeal on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting held at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osogbo, the state capital. The meeting was convened ahead of the official commencement of election campaigns by political parties.
He assured participants that security agencies would perform their duties with the highest level of professionalism and urged stakeholders to caution their supporters, particularly youths, against engaging in activities capable of disrupting public peace.
“Have it at the back of your mind that no life is worth losing during the election. Let us discharge our civic responsibilities in line with the Electoral Act,” the Osun NSCDC Commandant said.
He further warned that anyone found with criminal intentions would be arrested and made to face the full weight of the law.
