Chief of Defence Staff Unveils Locally Made Combat Vehicles, Commends Tinubu’s Defence Policy

The Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, has unveiled a number of locally manufactured combat vehicles designed to strengthen the operational capacity of the Nigerian Army.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, Oluyede said the development reflects the Army’s commitment to innovation, self reliance and the expansion of Nigeria’s indigenous defence production capabilities.

He also praised the defence policy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the administration’s support for local manufacturing and military modernization has significantly boosted the Army’s operational readiness.

According to the Army Chief, the locally produced combat vehicles will enhance troop mobility, improve battlefield protection and support ongoing operations against insurgency, banditry and other security threats across the country.

Oluyede explained that investing in home grown military technology reduces dependence on foreign equipment and allows the armed forces to respond more effectively to Nigeria’s unique security challenges.

He further stated that the initiative will encourage local engineering expertise, create opportunities for technological development and strengthen the country’s defence industrial base.

The Army Chief reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Army to defending the territorial integrity of the country and supporting national security efforts through modern equipment, training and strategic partnerships.
