The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has enhanced the professional capacity of its legal officers, investigators, and arresting officers through a specialised training programme focused on modern arrest and investigation techniques, as well as the evolving requirements for proving criminal cases in court.

The training, organised by the Command on September 1, 2026, was facilitated by the Director of Legal Services in the Office of the Attorney-General, Mr. Aminu Kayode Alilu, Esq.

Speaking at the opening of the programme, the State Commandant, NSCDC Ondo State Command, Commandant Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye, JP, said the seminar was designed to harmonise the Command’s legal operations and equip personnel with contemporary knowledge and practical skills necessary for effective arrest, investigation, and prosecution of criminal offences.

He explained that the initiative was aimed at strengthening collaboration among the Legal, Investigation, and Operations Departments while ensuring that all arrests and investigations carried out by personnel comply with established legal frameworks and procedural requirements.

Commandant Ibiloye noted that the engagement would also serve as an opportunity to evaluate the performance of the Command’s legal officers and conduct an assessment of the Legal Unit to identify areas requiring improvement and enhance the overall efficiency of legal processes within the Command.

According to him, maintaining high professional standards in criminal investigations and prosecutions is critical to securing successful convictions and sustaining public confidence in law enforcement institutions.

Participants at the training included legal officers, investigators, personnel from the Operations Department, Anti-Vandal Unit, Gender Unit, Anti-Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration Unit, Financial Crimes Unit, and other relevant departments of the Command.

The State Commandant commended both the facilitator and participants for their active contributions, stressing that continuous professional development remains essential for building a highly skilled, disciplined, and legally compliant workforce.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to strengthening the capacity of its personnel and ensuring that all arrests, investigations, and prosecutions undertaken by the NSCDC in Ondo State meet the highest legal and evidentiary standards required in criminal justice administration.
