The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, has received the State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Hassan Kabaju Katangana, alongside the management team of the Nigeria for Women Project Scale Up (NFWP SU) during a courtesy and strategic engagement visit to the State Command Headquarters.
Welcoming the delegation, the State Commandant of NSCDC in Jigawa State, Commandant Muhammad Kabiru Ingawa, described the visit as timely and significant, particularly at a period when stronger collaboration among security agencies and development partners is essential to addressing emerging social and security challenges.
The Commandant noted that drug abuse remains a major threat to societal stability, especially among youths and vulnerable groups. He reaffirmed the Command’s readiness to strengthen intelligence sharing, joint operations and community based sensitisation campaigns with the NDLEA in order to curb the menace across the state.
In his remarks, the NDLEA State Commander, Hassan Kabaju Katangana, commended the NSCDC for its unwavering support during joint enforcement operations and assured the Command of continued partnership in tackling drug trafficking and substance abuse. He emphasised the need for security agencies to work closely together to dismantle criminal networks that threaten the moral and social fabric of communities.
The management team of the Nigeria for Women Project Scale Up also highlighted the objectives of the programme, which are focused on economic empowerment for women, strengthening community institutions and improving social protection systems. The team sought the support of the NSCDC in ensuring a safe and secure environment for the successful implementation of their activities across several Local Government Areas of Jigawa State.
In response, Commandant Ingawa stated that initiatives aimed at empowering women play a vital role in crime prevention and social stability. He assured the team of the Command’s full cooperation, particularly in providing security support for project activities and ensuring peaceful engagement within beneficiary communities.
The meeting ended with a shared commitment to sustained collaboration, strategic information sharing and joint community outreach programmes aimed at promoting safety, social inclusion and sustainable development in Jigawa State.
The NSCDC Jigawa State Command reaffirmed its dedication to its core mandate of protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, while also partnering with relevant stakeholders to strengthen peace, security and development across the state.
