Katsina NSCDC Busts Illegal Arms Factory in Kore, Batagarawa LGA, Arrests Four Suspects


The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Katsina State Command, has successfully uncovered and dismantled an illegal arms fabricating factory in Kore Village, along Batsari Road, Batagarawa Local Government Area, Katsina State, apprehending four suspects in the process.
Under the leadership of the dedicated State Commandant, Abbas Dan-ile Moriki, the Command continues to prioritize the protection of citizens, critical national assets, and infrastructure in Katsina State and across Nigeria.
On Thursday, 26 February 2026, at approximately 10:00 hours, the Special Rapid Response Squad of the Command, acting on credible intelligence, moved swiftly to the location. Following instructions from the State Commandant, the team conducted a professional operation, successfully dismantling the factory, seizing weapons and equipment, and arresting four suspects.
The suspects—Haruna Lawal (M, 28), Badamasi Kabiru (M, 50), Hamza Lawal (M, 30), and Sagir Abba (M, 25)—were apprehended inside the factory while engaged in illegal arms production.
Recovered items from the site include:
Eight locally made skeletal rifles
Five locally made pistol grips
Four locally made magazines
One rifle butt
Five additional rifle butts
Twenty pieces of magazine components
Twenty-one pieces of metal
One carbide and one hacksaw
Three hammers
One spanner
One plier
One hand saw
One grinder
Two gas cylinders
One welding machine
Twenty-four notes
Two motorcycles (Jincheng and Boxer)
The suspects are currently under investigation to identify additional syndicate members and potential buyers. The Commandant assures that due diligence will be followed in their prosecution.
Commandant Moriki reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating illicit arms proliferation, disrupting the activities of vandals, economic saboteurs, and other criminals in the State. He thanked the public for ongoing cooperation and urged citizens to continue providing actionable intelligence to support security operations.
The Katsina NSCDC remains committed to ensuring a safe and peaceful environment for the people of Katsina State and Nigeria as a whole.
