Army Chief Unveils New Command Philosophy to Boost Professionalism and Combat Readiness
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has unveiled a new Command Philosophy aimed at strengthening professionalism, agility and combat readiness in the Nigerian Army. He presented the doctrine during a lecture delivered to participants of Senior Course 48 at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji.
In his address, the Army Chief spoke on the need to respond effectively to evolving security threats across the country. He emphasised that the Nigerian Army must remain proactive and prepared in the face of complex and changing operational demands.
Lieutenant General Shaibu stated that effective leadership must be built on character, courage and genuine care for personnel. According to him, strong leadership values are essential for maintaining discipline, morale and operational efficiency within the ranks.
He explained that counter insurgency and internal security operations require more than tactical competence. They demand sustained institutional strength, sound administration and the ability to adapt quickly to emerging challenges in different theatres of operation.
The new doctrine, known as PROSE, represents Professional Excellence, Robust Administration, Operational Readiness, Strategic Cooperation and Exemplary Leadership. The philosophy places the welfare of soldiers at the centre of its objectives.
The Chief of Army Staff noted that the Command Philosophy is designed to improve mission success, build public confidence and support long term modernisation across Army formations nationwide.
