Olusola Odumosu, Commandant of the Federal Capital Territory NSCDC Command, has cautioned all officers against interfering with or harassing voters during the ongoing Area Council elections in Abuja.
Speaking on Saturday at the NSCDC FCT command headquarters, Odumosu instructed personnel to maintain the highest level of professionalism while performing their duties. He emphasized that accidental discharges of firearms are strictly forbidden and that officers must remain neutral throughout the electoral process.
“Personnel must not assist voters in any way, as this could compromise impartiality. Your role is strictly to safeguard the electorate, election materials, and ensure a secure environment for citizens exercising their rights,” he said.
The commandant confirmed that 4,000 NSCDC officers have been deployed across polling units in the FCT to provide comprehensive protection. He also directed officers to apprehend anyone causing disturbances or attempting to disrupt the voting process.
Odumosu stressed the importance of cooperation with other security agencies, noting that a coordinated approach is essential to ensure a smooth, fair, and credible Area Council election in the territory.
