The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps played a leading role, in collaboration with other security agencies in Ondo State, in providing comprehensive and effective security coverage during the recently concluded 50th Golden Jubilee anniversary of the creation of Ondo State.
Speaking with journalists at the Akure Township Stadium on Tuesday, 3 February 2026, the Ondo State Commandant of the NSCDC, Oluyemi Ibiloye, expressed satisfaction with the level of security deployed for the celebrations. He commended the cooperation and synergy among all security chiefs in the state, noting that their collective efforts ensured peaceful and hitch free activities across Ondo State.
The anniversary celebrations commenced with a World Press Conference held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Lodge, Alagbaka, on Thursday, 29 January 2026. This was followed by a Jumat service at the Akure Central Mosque on Friday, 30 January 2026.
On Saturday morning, NSCDC personnel, alongside sister security agencies, were strategically deployed to ensure a smooth and incident free five kilometre health walk, which took off from the Government House, Alagbaka. The Governor led workers and residents of the state on the walk to the Akure Township Stadium.
At the Golden Jubilee thanksgiving service held at St Thomas’s Anglican Church, Isinkan, Akure, the Governor attributed the state’s survival and steady progress over the past five decades to divine guidance, the resilience of the people, and the vital role of faith in governance.
The grand finale of the celebration was attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was represented by the Minister of Interior, Honourable Olubunmi Tunji Ojo. The President described the Golden Jubilee as both a moment of pride and a call for Ondo State to chart a bolder and more purposeful path into the future.
The security success of the Golden Jubilee celebrations stands as a testament to the leadership role of the NSCDC and the collective resolve of all security agencies in Ondo State to protect lives, property, and critical national assets.
