The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, accompanied by his management team, today paid a courtesy visit to the Plateau State Government in Jos. This marked his first official engagement in the state ahead of the forthcoming Passing-Out Parade for Cadet Officers Course 06 of the Federal Fire Service.
The visit took place at the Plateau State Government House, Rayfield, Jos, where the Controller General was warmly received by the Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Mrs. Josephine Pyo, along with members of the State Executive Council.
In his address, the Controller General expressed sincere appreciation for the warm reception and conveyed the Federal Fire Service’s goodwill to the Plateau State Government. He commended the Executive Governor for the administration’s continued support for federal institutions operating within the state. He also briefed the Deputy Governor and Executive Council members on the Service’s key achievements, reforms, and operational milestones, particularly in capacity building, emergency response, and public safety advocacy.
The visit also served as a formal invitation to the Executive Governor to attend the Passing-Out Parade of Cadet Officers Course 06, who have successfully completed nine weeks of intensive training at the NDLEA Training School, Jos. The cadets received comprehensive instruction in firefighting, rescue operations, disaster management, and other specialised professional courses.
The Controller General further requested the Plateau State Government’s continued support in protecting fire personnel and equipment against attacks. He also emphasised the need for enhanced collaboration in deploying Federal Fire Service personnel to safeguard critical state assets and called for improved office accommodation to boost operational efficiency and staff welfare across the state.
Responding on behalf of the state government, Deputy Governor Mrs. Josephine Pyo commended the Federal Fire Service for its professionalism and significant achievements. She assured the Service of the government’s ongoing support in curbing attacks on firefighters and pledged continued collaboration to strengthen fire safety and emergency response across Plateau State.
As part of his engagements, the Controller General also visited the Federal Fire Service Plateau State Command, where he addressed officers and men of the Command. He urged them to maintain the highest standards of discipline, professionalism, and dedication to duty. He commended the Command for its effective service delivery despite operational challenges and encouraged personnel to remain committed to their responsibilities. He assured them of his unwavering support, particularly in the areas of welfare, capacity development, and operational enhancement.
