The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC Nasarawa State Command has arrested a suspect, Hussaini Shuaibu, also known as Abati, over the alleged defilement of five minors in different parts of the state.
The arrest followed credible intelligence reports and formal complaints from concerned residents, which prompted operatives of the Command to track and apprehend the suspect.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect allegedly committed the offences at different times and locations, targeting vulnerable minors.
Confirming the arrest, the State Commandant, Commandant Brah Samson Umoru, through the Command Public Relations Officer, SC Jerry Victor, strongly condemned the act, describing it as inhumane, criminal, and a gross violation of the rights of children.
The Commandant reiterated the commitment of the NSCDC in Nasarawa State to the protection of minors and other vulnerable persons, stressing that the Corps will not tolerate any form of sexual violence in the state.
He disclosed that the suspect is currently in NSCDC custody and will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Commandant Brah assured the public that justice will be pursued to its logical conclusion in order to serve as a deterrent to others with similar criminal intentions.
He further urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to remain vigilant and to promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies. He also encouraged victims of abuse to speak out, assuring them of confidentiality and necessary support.
The NSCDC Nasarawa State Command calls on members of the public to continue to cooperate with security agencies, as the Corps remains steadfast in its mandate to protect lives and property and to ensure public safety across the state.
