The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of schools across the state. This assurance was given by the State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, who was represented by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Corps Oluwaseun Abolurin, at the inauguration of the Muslim Hands Toyibat School of Excellence, located at Medina Estate Gate, Gbagada.
While congratulating the Country Director of Muslim Hands International, United Kingdom Nigerian Office, Dr Nurudeen Ibrahim, as well as the management of Muslim Hands, a United Kingdom-based faith-driven foundation, the NSCDC used the occasion to restate its strategic role in safeguarding educational institutions nationwide. The Command emphasized its dedication to protecting schools, staff, and learners from security threats.
The NSCDC noted that it works in close coordination with other security agencies and deploys both kinetic and non-kinetic measures to enhance school safety. These measures include routine patrols, vulnerability and risk assessments, and continuous sensitization programmes aimed at preventing attacks and addressing security challenges posed by unscrupulous elements within society.
Schools across Lagos State were encouraged to strengthen collaboration with the Corps in order to fully benefit from the Federal Government’s school safety initiative. The programme is designed to protect pupils, students, teachers, and host communities from internal and external threats, as well as social vices such as bullying, sexual abuse, assault, and other related crimes.
The NSCDC Lagos State Command reassured stakeholders of its sustained partnership with educational institutions and communities to ensure a safe, secure, and conducive learning environment for all.
Dignitaries present at the event included the Chairman and Founder of Muslim Hands, Syed Lakhte Hassanain; the Global Director of Education, Dr Muhammad Zahid Azeem; Mawlana Jeelani Ghulam from the United Kingdom; members of the Toyibat family; and other distinguished guests. The inauguration ceremony took place on Thursday, 29 January 2026.
