The Akwa Ibom State Command Headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Uyo, was filled with celebration on Friday, 23 January 2026, as 52 senior officers of the Corps were officially decorated with their new ranks in a colourful and well-attended ceremony.
The decoration exercise was led by the Akwa Ibom State Commandant, Commandant Geraldine Sistus Abetianbe, who charged the newly promoted officers to raise their level of commitment and reciprocate the confidence reposed in them by the Federal Government through superior performance in the discharge of their duties.
Commandant Abetianbe emphasized that the additional insignia worn by the officers symbolises increased responsibility and higher expectations. She noted that the State Command, the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, the Honourable Minister of Interior, and the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria expect nothing less than professionalism, discipline, and 100 percent dedication from the promoted officers.
Commanders of sister security agencies and other distinguished guests also congratulated the officers, while admonishing them to remain exemplary in character and service, and to justify the trust and confidence placed in them by the Federal Government.
Goodwill messages were delivered by the State Comptroller of Immigration, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), the Assistant Director, News and Current Affairs of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), as well as Hon. Barr. Kufre Udosen, Special Adviser, Bureau of Political and Social Re-orientation.
In total, 13 officers were decorated as Deputy Commandants, 2 as Assistant Commandants, 6 as Superintendents of Corps, 4 as Deputy Superintendents of Corps, 10 as Assistant Superintendent of Corps I, and 17 as Assistant Superintendent of Corps II.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, DCC Akpan Patrick Jacob expressed gratitude to God, the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, the Honourable Minister of Interior, and the President for finding them worthy of promotion. He pledged their unalloyed loyalty, total support, and unwavering commitment to the effective implementation of the core mandates of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
