The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, on Monday, 19 January 2026, held its first management meeting for the year at the Area A Command Headquarters, Railway Quarters, Iyaganku, Ibadan.
The strategic session was attended by the Command’s top management team, including Heads of Departments and Units, Area Commanders, Sectional Heads, Unit Commanders and Divisional Officers drawn from across the state.
In his opening address, the State Commandant, Augustine Padonu, undertook a comprehensive review of the Command’s activities, highlighting key operational achievements recorded in the previous year, challenges encountered in the line of duty and lessons learned in the discharge of the Corps’ statutory responsibilities.
The meeting also provided a platform for Heads of Departments, Heads of Units, Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to present their stewardship reports. The presentations captured detailed accounts of activities carried out, successes recorded and areas identified for improvement within their respective commands and formations.
While addressing management staff, Commandant Padonu expressed appreciation to officers and men of the Command for their dedication to the protection of lives and property in Oyo State throughout 2025. He commended the resilience, professionalism and collective commitment displayed by personnel despite operational constraints.
The State Commandant charged all management staff to intensify efforts in 2026 by adopting proactive, innovative and result driven approaches to operations. He urged officers to work towards positioning the Oyo State Command on equal footing with counterparts in other security agencies.
He further directed all departments, units and formations to submit detailed action plans for the year 2026, explaining that the plans would serve as benchmarks for measuring performance and operational effectiveness.
Commandant Padonu disclosed that the Command would undergo strategic restructuring aimed at improving service delivery, enhancing productivity and achieving more impactful results across all operational areas. He stressed that loyalty, discipline and total commitment to the Corps and its leadership remain non negotiable values.
Emphasising professionalism, the Commandant cautioned officers on the handling of intelligence, urging strict adherence to confidentiality, accuracy and established operational protocols. He also reminded personnel to respect the fundamental rights of suspects and to strictly observe the constitutional requirement of a 24 hour limit on detention.
He announced that the Command would embark on continuous training and retraining programmes in 2026 to further strengthen operational capacity, professionalism and responsiveness to emerging security challenges.
The meeting also featured the formal presentation of redeployment letters to newly assigned senior officers. DCC Timothy Patunola was presented with his letter of redeployment to serve as the Second in Command of the Oyo State Command, while DCC Koleoso Olusola Michael was redeployed to assume duty as Head of Department, Operations.
