CGF Olumode Bags Pan-African Award as Federal Fire Service Gets Safety Commendation

The Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, has been honoured with the prestigious Thomas Sankara Pan-African Prize for Excellence, while the Service itself received a Corporate Recognition and Commendation Award from the Youth Partnership for Africa’s Development (YOUPAD).
The awards were presented during a courtesy visit by the leadership of YOUPAD to the Controller-General at the Federal Fire Service Headquarters in Abuja. The recognition highlights the Service’s vital role in strengthening Nigeria’s safety architecture through effective emergency response, fire prevention, and the protection of lives and property nationwide.
Presenting the awards, President of YOUPAD, Mr. Henry Nwankwo, commended the Federal Fire Service for its institutional discipline and operational effectiveness. He noted that the Service has continued to play a critical role in promoting fire safety awareness, enhancing prevention strategies, and improving community preparedness across the country. According to him, the Pan-African Prize bestowed on the Controller-General reflects his exemplary leadership and impactful contributions to national development.
In his response, CGF Adeyemi expressed appreciation to YOUPAD for the honour and lauded the organisation’s Pan-African advocacy, particularly its efforts to combat drug abuse and other harmful social vices among youths. He reaffirmed the Federal Fire Service’s commitment to partnering with credible organisations to support youth-driven initiatives that promote responsible citizenship, safety awareness, and sustainable development.
YOUPAD is a Pan-African youth organisation dedicated to advancing leadership, civic engagement, and social reforms aimed at empowering young people and fostering development across Africa.
