The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening inter-agency collaboration aimed at curbing illicit drug abuse and trafficking in Abia State.
On Tuesday, 13 January 2026, the newly posted NDLEA Commander in Abia State, Chigbu Odoemelam Chike, paid a courtesy visit to the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Commandant Akinsola Aderemi, at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Umuahia.
The visit served as a familiarisation engagement and provided an opportunity for both agencies to review and strengthen existing operational cooperation in the fight against crime and criminality across the state. Discussions focused particularly on joint strategies to tackle the growing challenge of illicit drug abuse and trafficking, which pose significant threats to public safety and social stability.
Both Commanders emphasized the importance of intelligence sharing, joint operations, and sustained collaboration to enhance enforcement efforts and achieve more effective outcomes in safeguarding lives and property in Abia State.
