The Centre for Peace and Values Re-Orientation, Abuja, has conferred an Integrity and Stewardship Award on the Sokoto State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), CC E.A. Ajayi, in recognition of his visionary leadership, strategic initiatives in community development, and pragmatic approach to peace and security in the state.
The award ceremony was held on Monday, 15 December 2025, at about 12:00 noon at the NSCDC Sokoto State Command Headquarters, in the presence of principal officers of the Command.
Presenting the award, the Coordinator of the Centre for Peace and Values Re-Orientation, Abuja, Comrade Abubakar Oyibo, also inducted the State Commandant as a Service Peace Ambassador for 2025, accompanied by an induction medal.
Under the leadership of CC E.A. Ajayi, the NSCDC Sokoto State Command has strengthened grassroots collaboration, intelligence sharing, and partnerships with community stakeholders, resulting in improved security outcomes across the state.
The Commandant has fostered strong institutional partnerships, enhanced collective response mechanisms to security challenges, and deepened public trust through effective community engagement. These efforts have strengthened early-warning systems and encouraged greater community participation in local security matters.
His open-door leadership philosophy has further positioned the NSCDC Sokoto State Command as a transparent, accountable, and trusted security institution, working in synergy with sister agencies.
Speaking at the event, Comrade Abubakar Oyibo commended the Command for its transparency, accountability, and positive public image, noting that these qualities informed the Centre’s decision to honour the State Commandant.
In his acceptance remarks, CC E.A. Ajayi reaffirmed that peace remains a critical pillar of the state’s security architecture, stressing that sustainable peace can only be achieved through strategic community engagement, social inclusion, and humanitarian-focused security initiatives.
The State Commandant highlighted the Command’s achievements in community-based intelligence sharing, socio-economic engagement, protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, inter-agency cooperation, and efforts to mitigate conflicts, particularly between farmers and herders in rural areas.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to strengthening peace, security, and community resilience for the collective good of humanity.
