…Summit Rejects Foreign Intervention, Advocates Unity, Institutional Renewal, and Collective Action to Tackle Nigeria’s Security Challenges
The People’s Security Monitor (PSM), in its tradition of promoting meaningful national dialogue, has successfully hosted the 2025 Annual Security Summit and Recognition Awards. The event was convened to foster expert discussions on practical strategies for addressing Nigeria’s complex security challenges—ranging from kidnapping, banditry, terrorism, religious extremism, gender-based violence, vandalism, theft of critical national assets, infrastructural sabotage, youth restiveness, and other emerging threats.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Isiaka Mustapha, firmly emphasized that Nigeria must take ownership of its security problems. He dismissed the need for foreign intervention, instead advocating for unity, institutional renewal, and strengthened collaborative efforts among all stakeholders to combat insecurity.
Delivering the keynote lecture, the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Samuel Olomode, called for a renewed institutional framework as a key solution to Nigeria’s security problems. He pledged that under his leadership, the Service would continue to prioritize improved staff welfare, enhanced personnel training, community awareness campaigns, and other strategic reforms.
The summit brought together top-tier representatives from the Ministry of Defence, Nigeria Police Force, NSCDC, Ministry of Information and National Orientation, media professionals, and the organized private sector. The forum enabled high-level dialogues on tackling evolving national and global security threats.
The Annual Security Summit and Recognition Awards is organized by the publisher of the People’s Security Monitor Magazine, Alhaja Isiaka Mustapha, and has become a reputable national platform for security sector engagement.
