The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Borno State Command, has commenced the 2026 Junior Staff Promotion Examination, with officers and men from across the state’s 27 local government areas participating in the exercise.

The examination was officially flagged off by the State Commandant, Bello Ahmed Gaya, FCNNS, GCNNS, at the Kashim Ibrahim College of Education, Maiduguri.

Addressing the candidates, Commandant Gaya emphasised the importance of discipline, integrity and strict compliance with examination guidelines, stressing that the promotion exercise is a merit-driven process aimed at recognising hard work, dedication and professional excellence.

He urged participants to conduct themselves responsibly throughout the examination and avoid any form of misconduct that could undermine the credibility of the exercise.

According to the Commandant, the promotion examination remains a critical component of the Corps’ personnel development framework, designed to assess the competence and readiness of officers for higher responsibilities within the service.

Gaya reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and ethical conduct, noting that only officers who demonstrate competence, commitment and integrity would continue to advance in their careers.

He also commended the management of Kashim Ibrahim College of Education for providing a conducive environment for the successful conduct of the examination.

The Commandant further expressed appreciation to members of the examination committee and other officials involved in the exercise for their efforts in ensuring a transparent, credible and hitch-free process.

The promotion examination was conducted under the supervision of NSCDC officials and independent monitors, with candidates observed adhering to established procedures in a calm and orderly atmosphere.

The exercise forms part of the Corps’ annual promotion process aimed at enhancing staff development, boosting morale and strengthening operational efficiency across its commands nationwide.
