The Commander of the Mining Marshals, John Onoja Attah, has urged Nigeria’s security agencies to strengthen their collaboration, noting that the country’s evolving security threats can no longer be effectively addressed through isolated institutional efforts.
Attah made the appeal while delivering the keynote address at the 2025 RazorNews Inter-Agency Cooperation Awards. He emphasized the need for a more coherent and structured framework for cooperation, pointing out that several agencies still operate independently even as criminal groups advance their tactics through the use of drones, encrypted communication, and other sophisticated tools.
Referencing the theory of structural functionalism, Attah argued that Nigeria’s security system is only as robust as the interconnectedness of its constituent agencies. A breakdown in one component, he noted, inevitably affects the effectiveness of the entire security network.
