Navy Captain Umar Bakori (Rtd), National Chairman and Commander of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, is set to deliver a keynote address at the 2025 People’s Security Monitor Security Summit and Recognition Awards. His presentation, themed “Community Driven Security: A Key Pillar for a Safer Nation,” will focus on the crucial role of community involvement in strengthening public safety and enhancing national security.
The summit is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 10 December 2025, at the Nigeria National Merit Award House, Maitama, Abuja, starting at 10 a.m. prompt. The event will bring together security experts, government officials, emergency response personnel, and civil society leaders to discuss strategies for collaborative security approaches across Nigeria.
According to a statement from the organisers, “Captain Umar Bakori’s address is particularly timely as communities across Nigeria are increasingly recognized as essential partners in security management. His insights will highlight how structured community engagement can significantly reduce crime, strengthen trust, and build a more resilient nation.”
The organisers added that the 2025 summit aims to foster dialogue among policymakers, security agencies, and community leaders, while also recognising outstanding contributions to national safety. Participants are expected to gain practical strategies for promoting community-driven initiatives as a central component of Nigeria’s overall security framework.
