Ibeju-Lekki Council Deploys Security Personnel to Enhance Safety in Schools

The Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State has commenced the deployment of security personnel to public primary and secondary schools as part of efforts to strengthen safety and protect pupils across the council.

Council Chairman Sesan Olowa disclosed this during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Ibeju-Lekki.

Olowa said the initiative aims to safeguard lives and property, particularly children within learning environments.

He explained that multi-agency security teams would be stationed at school entrances, within premises and in surrounding areas to ensure prompt response to emergencies.

The personnel include operatives of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, the Ibeju-Lekki Community Corps (Folumo), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Nigerian Forest Security Services.

The chairman called on school heads, parents and community members to cooperate with the deployed operatives by reporting any suspicious activity around school corridors.

He assured residents that his administration remains committed to prioritising the welfare and security of children by maintaining strong partnerships with relevant agencies to sustain a safe learning environment.

Olowa added that the council had begun assessing security needs across educational institutions to identify gaps and put in place appropriate measures to prevent potential threats.

He emphasised that the deployment forms part of ongoing efforts to build a secure, peaceful and enabling environment for quality education and overall community development in Ibeju-Lekki.
