The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Enugu State Command, has organised a capacity building and empowerment programme aimed at enhancing the skills, professionalism and operational readiness of its junior staff cadre. The programme, held at the Command Headquarters, brought together officers from various units for intensive training sessions designed to strengthen service delivery and improve workplace efficiency.

Speaking at the event, the Enugu State Commandant, Dr. Elijah Willie, commended the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for his continuous support toward capacity development within the Corps. He described the Commandant General’s commitment to training as a major contributor to the remarkable progress recorded across all formations of the NSCDC in recent years.

Dr Willie noted that the various training initiatives introduced under the current leadership have significantly enhanced the competence and operational capacity of personnel. He emphasised that the empowerment of junior officers is key to the overall effectiveness of the Corps, as they play a critical role in frontline operations and community engagements.

The Commandant urged the junior personnel to seize the opportunity provided by the capacity building programme to improve themselves professionally and personally. He stressed that continuous learning and skill enhancement remain essential for any officer who wishes to excel in the security sector.

Dr Willie further advised participants to uphold the highest standards of discipline, integrity and dedication, noting that the positive image of the Corps depends largely on the conduct and professionalism of its officers, particularly those who interface directly with the public. He encouraged them to apply the knowledge gained during the retreat to serve the nation more effectively.

The capacity building and empowerment programme is part of ongoing reforms within the NSCDC aimed at boosting manpower development, improving service delivery and fostering a more proactive and efficient security workforce in Enugu State and across Nigeria.
