LAGOS HAIRSTYLIST SHOT DEAD DURING SUSPECTED ROBBERY ATTACK

A professional hairstylist identified as Sebastine Timothy has been shot dead by suspected armed robbers in the Satellite Town area of Lagos State.

The tragic incident reportedly occurred on Sunday night along Olasanoye Street, shortly after the victim returned home from work. According to police sources, the attackers invaded his apartment, robbed him of his valuables, and transferred money from his bank account before shooting him in the head.

A source who spoke under anonymity said, “A complaint was filed on Monday morning that Sebastine was attacked and robbed after returning home from work. The robbers transferred money from his account and shot him before escaping.” Neighbours later discovered his lifeless body after hearing gunshots during the night.

Meanwhile, an online platform known for exposing cult activities, Confra Naija, claimed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that the killing was linked to a cult attack. According to the platform, the assailants, identified as suspected Eiye cult members, had initially targeted Sebastine’s brother, who allegedly belongs to a rival group, Aye, but killed Sebastine when they couldn’t find their intended target.

In an emotional post on Facebook, a user identified as Glory Hope described the deceased as a hardworking barber, writing: “Very hardworking guy. Why did this happen to you? Such a good barber. I’ve been sad since I heard the news. Rest in peace, bro.”

When contacted, the newly appointed Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the incident but said the cause of death had not been conclusively determined.

“He sustained a head injury during a fight with some unidentified men and died on his way to the hospital. The police cannot yet confirm whether it was a gunshot or a machete wound. His family reported the matter and took the corpse to the mortuary,” Adebisi stated.

The incident adds to growing concerns over a series of cult-related killings and robbery attacks recently recorded across parts of Lagos, as residents continue to call on the police to step up security patrols.
