FIRE SERVICE CONTROLLER GENERAL, OLUMODE SAMUEL, ANNOUNCES PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM INTEGRATION FOR BETTER FIRE SERVICE OPERATIONS

The Federal Fire Service has reaffirmed its commitment to integrating a Performance Management System (PMS) to boost efficiency and improve service delivery.

The announcement was made by the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, during the opening ceremony of the Capacity Building Training on PMS, organized by the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, held at the Nigerian Correctional Service Headquarters, Dambazau Hall, Sauka, Abuja.

In his goodwill message, the Controller General commended the Honourable Minister for initiating the training and for his dedication to fulfilling the promise of implementing PMS across all agencies under the Ministry. He assured that the Federal Fire Service would fully adopt the PMS framework to enhance operational efficiency. He also urged participants to engage actively in the training, stressing that the program is both timely and crucial for the professional development of personnel.

Speaking at the event, Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, lauded the President for introducing innovative initiatives within the Ministry and its agencies. He emphasized the importance of taking the training seriously and applying its lessons to daily operations. According to the Minister, innovation and creative thinking are essential for improving service delivery across all departments.

He further encouraged personnel to continually upgrade their skills through study and research, enhancing productivity and contributing to innovative solutions. The Minister also directed heads of agencies to implement reward-based systems to recognize and motivate personnel who demonstrate creativity and forward-thinking approaches. He advised all Controllers General to remain open to new ideas and confirmed that PMS training would be a continuous program within the Ministry.

The event witnessed the participation of the Honourable Minister of Interior, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Comptroller General of Immigration Service (NIS), the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Deputy and Assistant Controllers General, and other senior officers of the four agencies under the Ministry.
