FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE PARTNERS SECURITY AGENCIES TO STRENGTHEN CYBER DEFENSE CAPABILITIES

The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has taken a proactive step toward advancing national cybersecurity preparedness with the successful completion of its maiden Cybersecurity Awareness Workshop, held from October 29 to 30, 2025, at the Service Headquarters in Abuja.

The two-day capacity-building program convened participants and subject-matter experts from various security and technology organizations, including the Defence Space Administration (DSA), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), among others.

The workshop highlighted the critical need for inter-agency collaboration in mitigating emerging cyber threats and protecting critical national infrastructure that supports public safety and emergency response systems.

Sessions featured insightful presentations on topics such as emerging cyber threats, data protection frameworks, digital ethics, and the integration of technology to enhance operational efficiency within security and emergency management sectors. Participants also engaged in practical exercises aimed at building institutional resilience against cyberattacks, phishing attempts, and other digital risks that threaten effective service delivery and public confidence.

The closing day of the event included middle- and junior-cadre officers of the Service, alongside representatives from sister agencies, fostering knowledge exchange and operational synergy across ranks and institutions.

In his opening remarks, the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, FCNA, ACTI, reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to supporting the Federal Government’s digital reform and transformation agenda. He emphasized the importance of embedding secure, responsible, and sustainable ICT practices across all levels of operation.

He further urged participants to apply the knowledge gained to enhance the Service’s cybersecurity posture and contribute to a safer, smarter, and digitally resilient public service environment.
