NIGERIAN ARMY COMMENDS GOVERNOR LUCKY AIYEDATIWA FOR PROMPT RESPONSE TO ISWAP SECURITY ALERT

The 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army has commended the Ondo State Government for its swift and decisive response to a recent security alert regarding a planned terrorist attack by the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) in parts of the state.

It was earlier reported that the Department of State Services (DSS) had issued a security advisory to the Brigade Commander on an imminent ISWAP operation targeting several communities in Ondo State.

The advisory, signed by H. I. Kana on behalf of the DSS, was titled “Imminent Attacks in Ondo State by Members of ISWAP.” The targeted areas were identified as Eriti-Akoko and Oyin-Akoko in Akoko North-West Local Government Area, as well as Owo town, the headquarters of Owo Local Government Area.

Speaking during an official visit to the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, in Akure on Thursday, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 32 Artillery Brigade, Major Njoka Irabor, said the governor’s quick response reflected his administration’s strong commitment to the protection of lives and property.

He noted that the governor’s immediate convening of an emergency security meeting and his directive for all security agencies to remain on full alert demonstrated exemplary leadership and proactive governance.

Major Irabor also expressed appreciation to the state government for its consistent support to the military and other security agencies, stressing that the cooperation had been instrumental in maintaining relative peace across the state.

He recalled that Governor Aiyedatiwa recently presented utility vehicles and operational equipment to various security formations to enhance their effectiveness and operational readiness.

Irabor reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to continued collaboration with other security outfits to ensure Ondo State remains safe for residents, investors, and visitors.

In his remarks, Commissioner Ajanaku thanked Major Irabor for the visit and commended the Nigerian Army for its steadfast dedication to ensuring security across the state.

He assured that the Ministry of Information and Orientation would continue to support the military and other agencies through effective public communication, awareness campaigns, and sensitization efforts.

The Commissioner also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or activities to the appropriate authorities, noting that timely intelligence from the public plays a vital role in preventing crime and sustaining peace.
