Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation HADIN KAI, under the 21 Special Armoured Brigade, have successfully repelled an attempted attack by Boko Haram terrorists around Kashimri in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State on 17 October 2025.
The operation, which was launched following credible intelligence, led to the discovery and destruction of several identified Boko Haram camps in the area. This decisive action effectively disrupted the terrorists’ plans to attack innocent civilians and destabilize socio-economic activities within the region.
During the encounter, the troops engaged the insurgents in a fierce gun battle, neutralizing several terrorists while others sustained varying degrees of injuries and fled the scene.
However, the operation came at a heavy cost. The Commanding Officer, 202 Tank Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Saidu Paiko, alongside other gallant soldiers, made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. These courageous men fought bravely to safeguard the peace and unity of the nation, and their sacrifice will forever be remembered with honour and gratitude.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, on behalf of the officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army, expressed deep condolences to the families of the fallen heroes. He described them as not just soldiers, but fathers, brothers, and sons who demonstrated immeasurable courage and patriotism in the face of adversity.
General Oluyede reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to eliminating all terrorist elements and restoring total peace and stability across the North-East and the entire nation.
In the spirit of respect and compassion, the Nigerian Army appeals to members of the public and media organizations to refrain from sharing or publishing images of fallen personnel until their next of kin have been duly notified. This measure is aimed at preserving the dignity of the deceased and respecting the privacy of their families.
